What is a “Live Sports Radio”?

  • The Live Sports Radio is a specially designed and patented radio receiver that receives re-broadcasts at certain sporting events with NO DELAY.
  • Live Sports Radio (LSR) has been created with one very important objective in mind: “Enhance the Fan Experience”.

What does the term re-broadcast mean?

  • This means that we take existing broadcast content available outside the venue (radio, TV, Spanish…etc.) and “re-broadcast” it live inside the venue. This process enhances the fan experience by providing live commentary in-venue.

Does the radio only work for one season?

  • All NCAA radios will work at every home and away football game this season (for your team, including postseason). In some cases, NCAA radios may also work at Men’s home basketball games. NFL radios will work at all home games during the specified season. Each season a new radio will be available as the FCC-licensed frequencies that are used for the broadcast will change depending upon the team’s schedule.

Do I need to turn the radio in at the end of the season?

  • There is no need to turn your radio in. The radio is yours to keep. All products other than the OneTune can be used as an FM radio after the event. The TripleTune can be used as an AM or FM radio.

What announcers will I hear on my radio?

  • If you have the college version of Live Sports Radio, you will hear your flagship radio network live in-stadium while attending both home and away football games.
  • If you have the NFL team version of Live Sports Radio, you will hear your flagship radio network live in-stadium while attending every home game.
  • All other radios will receive event specific commentary.

Can I listen to AM or FM radio stations on the radio?

  • Yes, the DualTune and DualTune Pendant have an FM tuner included. To get to the FM tuner, simply hold down the UP and DOWN buttons together for three seconds. Once on FM, you can use the UP or DOWN buttons to change channels. The TripleTune radio includes an AM and FM tunes. Use the same process mentioned above to toggle between Event mode, FM or AM stations.

If I travel to an away game for my team, will I be able to hear the broadcast on my radio?

  • Yes, all NCAA football radios will work, while attending each Home and Away game during the specified season, the E1 pre-set frequency is for the Home games while the remaining channels are for the Away games.
  • All non-NCAA radios will pick up the live broadcast while attending home games during the defined season.

Where will the radio work?

  • By law, the Event Channels (E1, E2…etc.) are broadcast on low power.
  • Your radio is designed to work inside the venue for the duration of the event. In most cases, we have been able to extend coverage just outside the event space, but this is never guaranteed. Once you leave the event space, you can use the AM or FM radio to pick up local stations (depending on which type of radio you have).

Does the radio need to be re-charged?

  • The DualTune and DualTune Pendant radio are powered by a 3 Volt CR2450 Lithium Battery; additional batteries can be purchased at the stadium or on our website. The OneTune is powered by a CR2032 and the TripleTune runs on two AAA batteries. The batteries generally last 30-40 hours.
  • Before replacing the battery on your radio, please ensure the volume dial is in the “off” position. To replace the battery, unscrew the outer cover by rotating it counterclockwise. Once the battery cover has been removed, pull the small grey tab (located at the 12:00 position) toward you. Please be sure to replace the battery with the correct battery type.
  • If you have a TripleTune radio, ensure your radio is in the “off” position, and then slide the front cover down by placing your thumb or fingers at the top of the logo. After the cover is removed, you will then see two AAA batteries that can be easily replaced.

Does the radio need to be reprogrammed after each season?

  • Yes. Your radio frequencies will need to be updated each season as the FCC assigned frequencies change based on available spectrum. Once the frequencies have been finalized for the season radios will be available through our website and reprogramming will begin. For NCAA football this information is normally secured by early to mid-summer.

Sound Quality

Is there volume control?

  • Yes, there is a dial on the side of the LSR that turns the radio on & off and enables you to adjust the volume.

What happens when the stadium gets really loud – will I be able to hear the broadcast?

  • We strive to have exceptional sound quality in-venue. On the DualTune, the speaker sits right outside of the ear canal, which generally makes it easy to hear, even inside loud stadiums.
  • The DualTune Pendant and TripleTune radios use sound isolating ear buds in both ears, reducing the ambient sounds and allowing for a better listening experience.

Is the radio hearing aid compatible?

  • The radio is not hearing aid compatible however the radio will fit over your hearing aid or you can remove the hearing aid as the volume on the radio is significant.

Will I be able to use my own ear buds?

  • Yes, as long as the plug adapter size is a standard 3.5mm.The DualTune Pendant and TripleTune radios come with a set of ear buds.
